One of Dewalt’s latest products is the DCD991 18V XRP Drill Driver. It is the second generation of brushless drill driver from Dewalt – the XRP standing for Extreme Run Time. Dewalt has aimed this range – the DCD991 and the DCD996 at the professional and high-end home user market. The drills are design for wood, metal and concrete, they have an all metal chuck and a new electronic clutch.
The DCD991 features an even more efficient motor and a much brighter 3-position LED light set up. Up to 20 x brighter than previous models in fact. The DCD991 Drill Driver also delivers 19% more torque than the previous model.
Without the battery, the DCD991 only weighs 1.5kg too – so fairly easy to handle.
In fact, the only thing that might stop you buying one, particularly as a DIY’er is the price, though those in trades which rely on tools like this might be prepared to pay for a great tool and Dewalt’s reputation for reliability.
